Tradition meets innovation by way of the world’s largest stained glass window.
The Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas will soon be unveiling a 100-foot by 40-foot window created via fused glass, a novel technique that the window’s designer Tim Carey described as “painting with glass” as opposed to the traditional method of painting on glass. The window, which depicts a series of Biblical stories surrounding a portrait of Jesus Christ, is the result of a collaboration between Judson Studios and artist Narcissus Quagliata. Quagalita, who pioneered the use of fused glass in large-scale installations, described the project as the “ideal showcase for the technique.”
The window debuted on April 1.
