Train Travel

A great means of seeing the countryside, the Historic SAM Shortline Railroad originates in Cordele and runs west through Georgia Veterans State Park, Leslie, Americus, Plains, and Archery. It’s important to check the schedule, but as a general rule, trains run on Saturday and some Fridays. On select weekends, you can get on or off at any of the stations, stop over for the night, and take the train again the next morning.
