A car is the best way to tour this part of Georgia. Interstate 75 runs north–south through the eastern edge of the region and connects to several U.S. and state highways that traverse the area. Interstate 85 runs southwest through LaGrange and Columbus. Do explore back roads—they offer the landscapes and ambience of the real South. Just be sure to travel with a good road map or GPS—cell phone coverage can be spotty in the countryside.
