Rioja

Rioja Review

Chef Jennifer Jasinski's intense attention to detail is evident in her tribute to Mediterranean food with contemporary flair. Formerly of Panzano, she partners in this venture with two other women: Beth Gruitch runs the front of the house while sous chef Dana Rodriguez helps in the back, and together this trio makes intriguing and compelling combinations like seared bigeye tuna with saffron-tangerine vinaigrette and Colorado lamb with preserved lemon yogurt. The restaurant is hip and artsy, with exposed brick and blown-glass lighting, arched doorways, and textured draperies. The wine list presents riojas galore, and is well priced for Larimer Square.

One of the best restaurant meals you will have, anywhere. All the goodness of a foodie hangout without the pretense. Consistently excellent offerings demonstrate masterful blending of local and more exotic ingredients, a deft hand for seasoning and spices and superb execution. The breads alone are to die for. Service is attentive and knowledgeable but not cloying or condescending. A definite must visit place when in Denver.
