Get there early, because Tom's usually runs out of the abundant portions of finger-licking-good Southern-style comfort foods and soul food made from scratch. Tom Unterwagner and Steve Jankousky—partners in life and business—offer "meat and twos" (as in, one meat item and two side dishes) as a deal each day, and it's a tough choice; you can call ahead to find out what will be on the white board, anything from crispy fried chicken to roast turkey to meatloaf to country-fried steak; it's all good. Fried catfish is often on there, as well as fried okra, mashed potatoes, and the best mac-and-cheese in town as sides, and be sure to have the sweet tea, the real deal from their Atlanta, Georgia, roots. Also, loosen your belt for fresh peach cobbler or Coca-Cola cake when they have them.
