Four of the rooms at this B&B on 2½ acres in the state historic park are inside an 1850s farmhouse, and two suites with kitchenettes occupy the carriage house. Appointments include charming decor, private bathrooms, and welcoming grounds. At breakfast, the owners can direct you to tour operators leading rafting trips on the American River. Pros : couldn't be more convenient to the park; quiet and leisurely ambience. Cons : nothing much happens in town after dark.
