Megan DeMatteo

Megan DeMatteo is an independent journalist, editor and creative writer currently based in New York City. She has written for Marie Claire, Insider, CoinDesk, CNBC and more. Born in Pittsburgh and raised outside of Baltimore, Megan is a first-generation blue crab eater who considers “home" to be the zip codes between New Jersey’s southernmost WaWa and the Chesapeake Bay. That said, she has a BA in Spanish from the University of Tennessee and an MA in creative writing from Lenoir-Rhyne University, Asheville. Her first trip abroad was to Costa Rica, and she's since studied abroad in Valparaíso, Chile and Dublin, Ireland, where she performed a séance in Oscar Wilde's former dorm room. She’s fluent in both “yinz” and “y’all,” plus a little Castilian. A left-brained-leaning lover of "woo woo," Megan has certificates in the healing modalities of hatha yoga and narrative medicine. She loves slow travel, singing, writing fiction and spending leisurely time outside. Follow her on Instagram @megdematteo.
