Bicycling

A mostly gentle 20-mile loop starting and ending in Healdsburg Plaza will take you past several good wineries—and infinitely beautiful scenery that includes vineyard-covered hills, the rolling Russian River, and a gently rusting trestle bridge. Start by heading south from the plaza on Healdsburg Avenue. Turn west onto Mill Street, whose name changes to Westside Road after you cross under U.S. 101. Follow Westside for almost 10 miles, stopping at wineries (among them Rochioli) as time permits. Unless you're heading to Gary Farrell Winery or Moshin Vineyards, which are a little farther south, turn east on Wohler Road and then north on Eastside Road. Copain is among the wineries along this view-filled portion of the ride. Head north again at Old Redwood Highway—J Vineyards and Rodney Strong are at this intersection. The name of the road changes to Healdsburg Avenue after you cross under U.S. 101; the avenue leads back to the plaza.
