Fodor's Review

The visitor center at Matanzas Creek sets itself apart with an understated Japanese aesthetic, extending to a tranquil fountain, a koi pond, and a vast field of lavender. The winery makes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Pinot Noir wines under the Matanzas Creek name and three equally well-regarded wines—a Bordeaux red blend, a Chardonnay, and a Sauvignon Blanc—with the Journey label. All tours take in the beautiful estate and include tastings. The Signature tour concludes with tastings of limited-production and library wines paired with artisanal cheeses. An ideal time to visit is in May and June, when lavender perfumes the air.
