Diné College

Diné College Review

In Tsaile, Navajo medicine men worked with architects to design the six-story main building of the country's first Native American-owned community college. Because all important Navajo activities traditionally take place in a circle (a hogan is essentially circular), the campus was laid out in the round, with all of the buildings inside its perimeter covered in reflective glass to mirror the piñon-covered landscape surrounding the campus. Diné College's Hatathli Museum and Art Gallery contains art and exhibits on Navajo culture as well as intertribal exhibits from across the United States—call ahead to visit, as it's staffed irregularly.
