Chalet Bar-B-Q

Chalet Bar-B-Q Review

Fast-food restaurants across Canada sell what they call "Montréal-style barbecued chicken." The claims are laughable. For the real thing, head to Chalet Barbecue and line up with the cabbies, truck drivers, and local families for crispy, spit-barbecued chicken served with a slightly spicy, gravylike sauce and mountains of french fries. You can eat in—surrounded by rustic vinyl—or order your chicken to go.

We've been coming here since I was a kid (I'm 40) and my parents (native Montreal'ers) even longer. It's the best chicken (forget BBQ) ever! The crispy skin just falls off and the meat inside is juicy and tender, especially with the gravy-saucey stuff you can dip everything in to. The fries with the gravy are 2die4 too. We crave it all year long.
