5 Best Nightlife in Zermatt and the Matterhorn, Valais

Hexen Bar

Fodor's choice

A great place for après-ski drinks, this chatty witch-theme bar and pub has a subtle gay vibe. Gespritzer weissers (white-wine spritzers) are a local favorite, but the dark-wood paneling and cozy booths might make you want to sample something from the extensive whiskey menu.

Gee's Bar

Located in what locals call the "Bermuda Triangle" because of its concentration of nightspots, this is a lively bar where you can enjoy cocktails, including the Matterhorn Mule, made with homemade ginger beer.

Schwyzer Stübli

A double dose of regional song and dance can be had at the Schwyzer Stübli, open only in winter. Be prepared for rowdy sing-alongs and accordion music. It's incidentally also a great place to sample traditional Swiss food.

Unique Hotel Post

Across the cobblestones from Gee's Bar is the Unique Hotel Post, which houses a concert hall, lounge where DJs spin tunes for late-night revelers (both open only in winter), disco with a high-energy beat, cocktail and cigar lounge, and mellow pub serving chicken wings and burgers.

Vernissage

For one-stop entertainment, eating, and drinking, swing by the cinema, concert hall, lounge bar, café, or innovative restaurant at the Vernissage, the brainchild of local artist-architect Heinz Julen.
