Fodor's Expert Review L'Ou Com Balla

$$ Born-Ribera Mediterranean

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Candlelit romantic nooks and artisanal recipes researched by culinary historian Teresa Ferri are the lures at this little hideaway behind the Santa Maria del Mar basilica. Dishes here range from Catalan to Turkish to Greek, with Moroccan or medieval Sephardic recipes collected from around the Mediterranean over generations of Ferri chefs. Try the Sephardic hen. L'Ou Com Balla ("the dancing egg") refers to the Barcelona tradition of placing an egg atop the city's fountains to celebrate Corpus Cristi.
