The Lido

Neighborhood
The famous Lido Beach of Venice in Italy.
ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The Lido is Venice’s barrier island, forming the southern border of the Venetian Lagoon and protecting Venice from the waters of the Adriatic. It forms the beach of Venice, and is home to a series of bathing establishments, both public and private, some luxurious and elegant, some quite simple and catering to Venetian families and their children. Buses run the length of the island. Aside from the Jewish cemetery, the only other attractions are the many villas dating from the early 1900s, which display some interesting modernist architecture, and several art nouveau hotels.
