The Golden Hind

The Golden Hind Review

You'll land some of the best fish-and-chips in London at The Golden Hind, a great British "chippy" (or traditional fish-and-chip shop), run by a Greek family in a retro 1914 Art Deco café, off Marylebone High Street. Gaggles of tourists and hungry Marylebone village locals alike hunker down for the homemade cod fishcakes, skate wings, feta fritters, and breaded scampi tails, but it's the perfectly prepared and nongreasy deep-fried or steamed battered cod, plaice, and haddock from Grimsby (£4-£6.20), the classic hand-cut Maris Piper chips, and the mushy peas that are the big draws. It's BYO and take away, but note it's only open noon-3 pm weekdays, and 6-10 pm Monday to Saturday.
