The Golden Hind

The Golden Hind Review

You'll catch some of the best fish and chips in London at this great British "chippy" (or traditional fish and chip shop), run by a long-standing Greek family in a retro 1914 Art Deco café. Gaggles of tourists and hungry Marylebone village locals alike hunker down for the homemade cod fishcakes, skate wings, feta fritters, and breaded scampi tails, but it's the neatly prepared and non-greasy deep-fried or steamed battered cod, plaice, and haddock from Grimsby (£4-£6.50), the classic hand-cut Maris Piper chips, and the traditional mushy peas that are the big draws. It's BYO and take away, but note it's only open noon–3 pm weekdays, and 6–10 pm Mon–Sat.
