Galvin Bistrot de Luxe

Galvin Bistrot de Luxe Review

The publicity-shy Chris and Jeff Galvin brothers blaze a trail for the French "bistrot deluxe" concept on a fast-moving stretch of Baker Street in Marylebone. Seasoned fans and an older crowd go for the impeccable food and service in a handsome mahogany-paneled and slate-floored Parisian-style salon. There's no finer Dorset crab lasagna around, and main courses punch above their weight: Corsican bream, calves liver with Alsace bacon, stuffed pig's trotter, and veal kidneys with girolles are all gastronomic triumphs. The £17.50 3-course set lunches or £19.50 early evening dinners (6-7 pm) are unbeatable value, and there's popular and occasional live Sunday evening jazz offered downstairs by nearby Royal Academy of Music students.
