This Soho basement/retro nightclub is often considered the best place to see breaking talent as well as household names doing "secret" shows. Ricky Gervais, Eddie Izzard, and Russell Brand are among those who have graced the stage, and every summer a handful of the Edinburgh Fringe comedians preview here. The bar is open late (and serves food), and there's a DJ and dancing after the show. Tickets are often discounted with a printout from their website, and shows are mainly on Saturday.

    Not worth it to be treated like a child.

    Turned up and had to queque despite having booked over the phone.

    If you like bossy, surly staff, who insist on cash payment, rip you off when acts don't appear then this is the place for you. The woman organising it was really rude to the clientele. Her manner was dogmatic and its not really very much fun for a comedy night out.

    On the other hand, if you like jokes about dead cats and Madelaine McCann then this is right up your street. Not for me though.
