Etiquette

Samoan culture is based on respect—respect for the chief, elders, the family, and religious leaders. Visitors should not walk through villages during the evening prayer time (called sa). You should also dress modestly in villages and avoid displays of affection in public. Remove your shoes when entering a Samoan home, and bring a gift of food if visiting. Topless and nude bathing is prohibited.
