Doughboys Review

In a town where most of the dining options are along the main drag of souvenir shops and cafés, it's nice to escape with a sandwich, a pastry, or a pie and eat down at the lakefront. Doughboys bakes several different breads, croissants, and 10 different pies. Sandwiches have yummy fillings such as seafood, chicken, or bacon and eggs, and the scones are legendary. In case that's not enough, you can grab a sit-down breakfast (bacon, two eggs, tomato), for about NZ$12.

    Doughboys Review

This cafe is reported to be popular and cheap, with good sweet things to eat.In a small, though beautiful, place like Lake Tekapo there aren't many eating choices and we were desperate for breakfast. It was probably the worst we've ever had anywhere in the world. Slimey albumen eggs, waferlike crispy fat strips in lieu of bacon, white sliced bread with a token scrape of margarine in lieu of toast (completely untoasted) and lukewarm coffee. Truly appalling, and this is not said lightly.
