Shikoku Mura Gallery

Shikoku Mura Gallery Review

Bamboo groves conceal a trove of ancient treasures at the mountainside park Shikoku Mura. Dozens of historical buildings and bridges from around Shikoku have been brought to this expansive forest park and lovingly restored. English information boards provide a surprisingly interesting history for each location, and a web of well-kept pathways lets you wander freely without feeling either too shepherded or too lost. Take a break at the Shikoku Mura Gallery, nestled on the hillside above an ancient sugar mill. Designed by Tadao Ando, the gallery has a collection with works by Picasso, Chagall, Monet, and literary notable Natsume Soseki. Access is by Kotoden train: take the Shido line 20 minutes to Yashima station and walk five minutes to the park. Going by car, take Route 11 toward Tokushima and turn left at the first McDonalds on the right.
