Shi

Fodor's Review

Tucked away in an alley adjacent to the Forbidden City, Shi is nestled among traditional temples and courtyard houses. Contemporary renditions of eight classic dishes come with a story, told by your server, that link the recipe to a specific Chinese emperor. A side of garlic bread balances the Poison Soup, a chicken broth infused with Chinese herbs, and the Concubine Fragrance Grilled Lamb Chops is a piquant favorite from Emperor Qianlong's rule. There is also a collection

of vintage Chinese rice wines.
