Zydeco

Going to NO in August can anyone recommend a good place to listen to some Zydeco music?

When in August will you be in New Orleans? Wednesday night is Zydeco night at Mid-City Rock n Bowl, for starters.

Oops, make that Thursday night.

Also, Tipitina's on Napoleon has a fais dodo on Sunday late afternoons. Harrah's sometimes has Cajun and Zydeco bands.

Ahhhh..."Tips"!

Mrs Kal joined in a long zydeco conga line on a Sunday night. A very fun place.
Free red beans and rice still?

Don't know if it's still there since it was several years ago (does anyone in NO know if its still there) but I really liked Mulate's. It was across the street from the Convention Center. Live Zydeco/Cajun band with dancing and good cajun food as well.

Kal - I haven't been since Katrina, but I doubt they'd stop that well-known New Orleans tradition.

Gmoney - yes, Mulate's is still there and now open. They sustained a lot of damage from Katrina - mostly looting and destruction due to close proximity to the Convention Ctr. Very sad - the storm was bad enough without having your place destroyed by people.
