You and 3 buddies are all turning 40 next year. You don't see each other often as 2 live in the US, 1 in Canada and 1 in the UK. You want to organize a 4-5 day celebration of turning 40, what do you do?? Suggestions please?

As the title suggest 4 friends (all males) who shared the triumphs and troubles of the teenage years now only communicate sporadically due to personal lives, work and just life. We have decided to have a little reunion amongst th group and want to do something special for 4-5 days. Our interests include golf, football, F1 racing and all other things that typical males enjoy. Money is generally not an issue (within reason of course) and we are struggling to come up with a suitable location/event to cetre are reunion around. Your suggiestions are most appreciated.

F1? definitely something like Monza, etc. find a cool locale with one of the races, and off you go! I suggest Monza b/c it's usually (always?) mid-Sept, a nice time of year to be in Italy. you can go hang out on the lakes, and surely golf somewhere.

Maybe it sounds like a Vegas Baby kind of trip? WHEN are you going? That makes it easier to pin down.. and I am assuming that it will be in the US, yes? We need that info, it is tres important.

With respect to timing, we all turn 40 in 2006 and it does not matter as to what time of year we have the event. It does not necessarily have to be in the US. Likely will be either in Europe orthe US, but we are open to suggestions.

How about golfing in Ireland? You can hang out with the locals in the pubs in between tee times.

Football game at Lambeau Field before Brett Farve retires, then go play in Chicago.
F1/Cart racing in Monte Carlo or Kuala Lumpur
Golfing in Ireland or Thailand.
Tour de France.
Car racing school in Florida.
NCAA Final Four basketball weekend.
THE NEXT RYDER CUP.
Running with the bulls.
Mardi Gra in Rio or New Orleans.
and the best event yet, in my mind...

Volunteer to work at a Children Leukemia Hospital of your choice.

The top ones are my wish list. I did 1 day of the last one on my 40th birthday and it changed my outlook on life.

I suggest Bermuda. Great golf. It will appeal to the UK friend. It lends itself to 4 or 5 days and it can be done mostly anytime of year.

another vote for Montreal / Toronto Canada.

F1 racing in Montreal, and Molson Indy in Toronto.

Lots to do & see in both places.

How about Puerto Rico? Lots of golf and nightlife. Racing? Can't have it all.

Vegas really is the adult Disney World. Plenty of nice hotels, numerous golf courses nearby, a few big auto races every year, countless sports books to spend hours watching 15 events at one time, great dining and free booze.

Let me stress that last point FREE BOOZE. Sure, you might lose your house on a few roles of the dice but - FREE BOOZE!

I suggest New Orleans if you haven't been there as a group. There are all types of activities so if you get bored with 1 you can try something new. Just depends on when you want to come.

I suggest Vegas or New Orleans where you can do all those things that "typical males enjoy" ..in fact, you can watch them all on TV while you are doing that other thing that typical males enjoy.

Right on Topman!

Why would you consider any other locations for a 40th male gathering?

PS: Go to Rick's if you go to NO.

Thanks for the suggestions gang!! NO and Vegas sure seem popular. Someone at work suggested SF and Pebble Beach. I like the FREE BOOZE in Vegas, but not sure I am willing to wager the house for it! Keep the suggestion coming, they are much appreciated.

Not to sound like the LV visitors bureau, but here is a link to a Grand Prix track in Vegas.

http://www.lvmgp.com/tracks.html

Meant to try it on my last trip.

The other option might be a Skip Barber Racing School for a day (about $1,200) at one of several tracks around the country followed by golf.

For my 40th next year, I've been subtly, ok overtly, telling my wife about Yankee Fantasy Camp for about 5 years.

Well, if money isn't an issue, how about an African safari? You'd need more than 4 days but it would definitely be a memorable experience. You could all meet in London or Amsterdam then fly together to your safari destination.
