which vegas midstrip hotel is the best value for the money?

i am planning a return trip to vegas this fall. no exact dates are set, but would either be in oct or nov.

i want to stay midstrip, say around flamingo or tropicana blvd.

im looking for a reasonable value on a hotel room, nothing lavish like bellagio, but not trashy either.

i plan to stay 3 days, two nights. im looking to pay around $40-$50 a night for a room. any ideas as to which midstrip hotel would give me the best value?

If your message had been written in 1975, you might have a chance of finding a $50 room on the strip. Put a 1 in front and at $150 you might begin to have a few options.

Try the Motel 6 at Tropicana and Koval one block east of the strip $45.99 plus they'll leave the light on for ya..

The $40-50 room rate is frankly laughable. Even mid-week.

However, you can find specials not too much above that range Sunday to Thursday at Flamingo. TI is basically dead center Strip and also pretty reasonable. Harrah's is numbingly mediocre in every aspect-- but it's center Strip and cheap. Don't entertain doing Imperial Palace unless you're in a "slumming in a dump" mood.

When we searched last spring break, the Luxor had the best prices. Not $50, though!

wow, sounds like if i shared some websites that i know of that give deep discounts on vegas hotels such as mgm, wynn, palms, & caesars, id be the life of the party. ill see what i can dig up for you guys and post on here. vegas hates me enough, cause i always jip them, instead of the other way around. i was just seeing if anyone had better connections than what i have. mine are the best, but they do suffice nicely with some great discounts.

Luxor has a pay in advance no refund deal that is usually pretty good & Harrah's (as mentioned) is pretty cheap but the pool is tiny. Have you thought about Freemont St. ? Hard to say what you are going for but that may fit the bill if you are merely seeking to gamble.

Like everyone else already mentioned, you are not going to find a $50 per night rate on the strip. That said, I would recommend Harrahs or Ballys.

I would skip Flamingo, have stayed their twice and regretted it. The 2nd time was about 10 years after the first, and they did not get any better.

I go every year and Harrahs and Ballys are probably our 2 favorite hotels, though we have also stayed at TI, Caesars, Paris, Monte Carlo and Luxor.

TI was better before they rethemed it a few years ago, especially the pirate show.

If you don't mind farther down the strip I would suggest Monte Carlo.

I definitely enjoyed staying at Caesars, Paris and Luxor, but I think they are a little pricier than the others I mentioned.

Fall is a prime time and pricey, though mid to late November (avoiding Thanksgiving might not be too bad. Start researching, and I'd avoid weekends also (stay Sun thru Thurs). I think the only place you may get your low rate besides Motel6, would be Downtown/ Fremont Street area. Again on Friday and Sat., all bets are off, LOL.

The best deal I could find for the first weekend in December (the week before Rodeo Week) is at The Westin Casuarina and it was $199.

I think the days of Vegas deals are long gone.

1 or 2 years ago you would be able to find a Flamingo's special off-season, mid-week $50 or so. No more. Now it's more like $100-150.

For $50 you can get a room at Sahara, maybe at Stratosphere or Circus Circus. Tropicana, maybe $70-80.

Out of curiosity, I checked October 7-12 on Expedia. Sahara $59, Circus $64, Strat $68, Riviera $74, Tropicana $100, Imp. Palace $105, Excalibur $118 - not bad for high demand time.

You do know that the season starts in October, right?
