which strip hotel in vegas
My son will be spending two nights in Las Vegas, one at the beginning of his trip 10/19 and one at the end 10/23/03. In both cases he expects to be in the city from mid afternoon until the next morning. Since this is upon us, I volunteered to make (and pay for) hotel arrangements. I have been there three times and didn't expect the rates to be as high as I am finding for this coming Sun. and the following Thur. night. He is 26, traveling alone, won't have a car and probably won't spend time in his room except to sleep. He does want to be on the Strip. He would enjoy sitting by a pool perhaps, but I have the impression some pools may be closed. Anyway I have used all the web sites, cheapovegas, vegas.com, hotel websites, etc. mentioned on this list and the best I can find is Boardwalk about $50, Tropicana about $60, Monte Carlo $85, and MGM for $89. I really don't want spend more unless absolutely necessary.
Any opinions about which is the best choice or other suggestions?
Thanks,
krisz

If you're looking for a strip hotel that's quite decent with a great location and rates that are hard to beat, consider the Imperial Palace, which is center strip, right next to the Flamingo and Harrahs, and across from the Mirage and Caesars. Their rates can dip into the low $40s, but probably not in October, which is high season in LV.
