Where To Go For Snow For The Coming Holiday Weekend, Please?
I have a trip planned to NYC.
However, I realise I have strayed from my intent of spending a few days in NYC and then a few days somewhere pretty with snow, walks in the woods, sleigh rides, a lovely place to stay(with a kitchen) and near to shopping and a variety of places to eat.
I and my SO are both tired and want to relax. NYC seems great, however the timing is probably wrong for this coming week (crowds, parking, all those big city things I tolerate well when not so tired).
We don't have anything else booked.
I want something romantic and calm.
It will be a driving trip. So somewhere midwest or northeast not more north than NYC and not more west than Chicago.
I have looked at some ski places in NY and VT (I know more northern). They seem (from reviews) to be high priced $400 a night, yet not really nice (like mildew in shower didn't bother someone who loved ski-in places - I don't ski) or isolated from anywhere to eat or shop (except ski clothes).
I happen to be sleep deprived right now. We are both thinking of staying home and doing nothing. If I do that, I will probably regret it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Oh, don't stay home! But I think most of the eastern part of the country is in need of snow. Better check the weather reports! There are plenty of great places to go, but I did happen to see something in the paper today that indicated a lack of snow in the ski areas. If you get lucky there might be snow in the Western New York area next week, and you could go to Peek n Peak or Heavenly Valley.

Thanks.
I looked at the weather channel. Not so good for snow.
I'm going to try to get some decent sleep tonite (raging insomniac, here) and see if I have the energy to go.
I will look at the two W. NY places.
Any great state parks with new modern cabins (for me that means nice bathroom and real kitchen with dishwasher) and pretty walks / views / things to do (horse rides)?
Thanks for any ideas.

I can't tell from your post what dates you are talking about, but will say, sometimes staying home is the most relaxing thing to do! Make a vacation of it.
I love Vermont dearly and it is just what you're after but it is likely a little late to be booking near the holidays to find reasonable priced places with availability. Also snow more likely in Jan/Feb than Dec.
