weekend away from LA
Hello all,
Our anniversary will be in November. We live in LA and are planning to spend the thanksgiving(work allows me 3 days off) away. We were thinking to spend time in Palm Spring. However the last time we went, my wife thought it was quite boring(perhaps I didn't research in advance of what to do, where to visit ahead of time). Any suggestions? We did bring our 3rd grader to Joshua tree which was fun.
Anywhere within driving distance that you would recommend to get away? we will be going to SF in October. Already visited San Diego too many times.
thanks

How about Santa Barbara? The weather around Thanksgiving could be iffy but is usually nice. You would almost be guaranteed better weather in Palm Springs that time of year. What does your wife like to do? Sounds like you will have your son with you. To me, Palm Springs is just about relaxing, having dinner out, looking in the shops. Maybe play some golf or tennis. Don't know if you took the Aerial Tramway and there is also the Living Desert Zoo that your son would enjoy.

I just got back from Catalina (Avalon). It was ok, but I will never go back. For what we spent to get there and be entertained, I would have much preferred a trip up to Hearst Castle or a two night stay down in Julian.

Catalina is a good idea but if his wife was bored in Palm Springs then she might get bored quickly there. She probably wouldn't be bored in Las Vegas but don't know if they want to take their son there. Friends of mine used to go to LV every Thanksgiving and it was always packed so the OP would need to get reservations now.
