Waikiki on 4th of July -- Where to see Fireworks?

I'll be arriving on Oahu on July 4, 2007, and would like to stay at a hotel where ideally we can view fireworks from the room.

Where are the 4th of July fireworks events in Waikiki? Any suggestions for a hotel? I'll be there with my husband and two daughters. Willing to pay up to $400 per night for a room.

Thanks.
Diane

The absolute best hotel to view the Magic Island 4th of July fireworks is the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki. Their website is www.princeresortshawaii.com.

There are two towers and all rooms face the boat harbor. The fireworks are launched off of Magic Island and when you are in your room, it looks like they are going off right in front of you.

We used to book the night at the hotel specifically to watch the fireworks, but after a couple of years the hotel realized what a money maker it was. They started doing these 4th of July packages that tacked on food credits and other services. Unless you purchased the package, you couldn't get a room at the hotel for just that night.

If you'll be staying there for a period of time rather than just the one night, you probably won't have to take the package.

Thanks, Chepar. This is just the kind of information I'm looking for. We will probably stay for two nights in Waikiki before we head to the North Coast, so I'm not sure if a package will work for us or not. But I'll check it out.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

I guess the next best would be the Ala Moana Hotel, but they, like the Prince, also sell packages. You need to buy well ahead of time, though. I used to work for Ala Moana Center (who puts on the fireworks) and they told me the packages sell out quickly.
