Visiting Mt Snow for 1st time

I'm staying with a group of friends at a rented house. We will be going to the brewers festival. All of my friends are avid mountain bikers and will probably bike most of the time. I would like to bike one of the days for sure, but i'm interested in learning about other things for me to do. i know there's hiking and i can figure that out. can anyone recommend a nice place for horseback riding? maybe for a two people or a group of 4? is Lake Champlain close to Mount Snow? are there any other areas worth visiting that are a decent driving distance? As far as dining goes, i've seen Two Tannery Road recommended many times on this site. Is this restaurant in Mt. Snow? any off the beaten path adventures are of interest to me. any place for good antiques? thanks for your response.

Can't really help answer your questions...just bringing this to the top in hopes someone will see it who can.
Lake Champlain is not near Mount Snow. Depending on what part of the lake you'd like to see (it's very large) it can be a 2-3 hour drive.

Firstly Two Tannery is in Mt. Snow (right off Rt. 100) and is a great restaurant. A little pricey if you don't mind that. Fennessy's is the most popular, great food, large portions and reasonably priced. The only drawback is no reservations and usually a long wait. Although if you're going to the Brewer's fest you probably won't mind waiting at the bar!! They usually have some entertainment to keep you occupied also. You can pretty much drive off in any direction and find antique shops along the road. Wilmington is the closest town (9 miles) and is pretty quaint (big Vermont word). Lake Wittingham is also in that area with boat rentals and water sports. Sorry no info on horseback riding though I'm sure there's something pretty close. www.southernvermont.com will give you more info on the area than the Mt. Snow site.

There are a few golf courses in the area; that is where you will find us when not imbibing at the Brew Fest.

After biking and hiking, you may want to check out some of spa services at the Grand Summit hotel.

Have also heard good things about Two Tannery Road; may need to check it out this trip.

You'll have a blast at the Brew Fest. Horseback riding: Flames Stables in Wilmington. Re: lakes - you have Lake Whitingham which is very close (in Wilmington). Also over that weekend; the annual Garlic Festival in Wilmington, which is fun. The whole area is buzzing with stuff to do that weekend - pick up the Deerfield Valley News for a full list. Two Tannery is a great restaurant; so is the Deerhill Inn (check to see if they're open though - new owners).
