The one stop, the one hike between Portland and Ashland
Heading to ashland in the morning from Portland. I am looking for the most scenic route to take and the best place to stop for a good hike (maybe an hour and a half) not too strenuous. Any must do's?

Visit your library to see if you can find William Sullivan's "100 trails in NW Oregon" book.
One of my favorites is Bagby Hot Springs. http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide....t_Springs_Hike
Pack your swimsuit for this easy hike.

I agree, William Sullivan has the best hiking books for our state. I personally love his Oregon Trips n Trails book.
Without knowing what route you want to take, if you are heading straight down I-5, stop at Silver Falls State Park. It is just east of Salem about 20 minutes or so. It is a trail of 10 waterfalls and is 7 miles long. Very easy, and very pretty.

I am leaving shortly, no time to go to library. I know Silver Falls State Park is supposed to be amazing and might do that at the end of the week and would like to get further south for our stop/hike. Don't care the route we take. Looking for a good reasonable hike, lovely route and not too intense. thanks

I did this hike last year - there were lots of wild flowers, nice views, it is uphill but once you reach the top, its flat
