St Louis Adams Mark Hotel....reeealy bad?
Have read some reviews that the Adams Mrk has gone south a bit....but I don't want to pay Westin prices for one night. We're not even getting into St Louis until 6pm! Found a good deal on Adams Mark (I think, $92 if that's good) just wondering if we should do it or search on. Would like to be within short didstance to decent restaurants and bars. Don't think we'll want to drive after an 8 hour trip. Any thoughts?

If you're talking about the Adam's Mark downtown, it's fine. Yes, it has gone downhill - or at least it did during the times we stayed there - but the location is good and I doubt you'll have any real complaints.

Can certainly tell you the Dallas Adams Mark was just short of the pits. An example: the hair dryer shorted out and then fell off the wall. The front desk, after many calls, sent up a new one, and told us to install it. Who, us ... the guests? Hmmm, don't think so. Jeez, they took all my tools at airport security. Later, the desk sent up an asst. mgr. to verify I was actually the lady's husband. Would we stay there again ... lol, you bet!

Adam's Mark doesn't have a very good reputation within the hotel industry. There's not one in my hometown, though, and I can't say I've ever visited one of their locations. Friends spent a pretty awful weekend at the Adam's Mark in Denver a few weeks aho, though, and had nothing but complaints.

The St. Louis Adams Mark used to be a top hotel but has gone downhill and that is reflected in the price you are getting. If you want to be in the heart of downtown and don't mind a few rough edges on you hotel; $92 is a good price.
A brand new Hampton Inn that is about 3 blocks up Broadway will open in early April. In my opinion it's even more convenient to Laclede's Landing and dining options.
Do a little more research. I think for a few dollars more you can get a much more enjoyable place to stay.

I think the Radisson on 4th Street is pretty good. I swear that building changed ownership to 3 different hotels in the last decade and been renovated every time. In that same time nothing has been done to the Adam's Mark.

There is a relatively new Embassy Suites right on the north edge of the landing. Easy walking distance. You can probably get a comprable rate there. We stayed there last August and it was fine.
Another option is the new Millenium hotel over by Busch stadium. They have a brand new tower, and nice pool, bar, etc. See ewhat rate you can get there, if that's not too far from the landing for you.
Take care,
Pappy

The Embassy Suites is actually about 15 years old. It's still very nice (stayed there a few weeks ago) and hasn't slid as much as the Adam's Mark has. Plus there are tons on bars close by.
The Millenium is very nice. They renovated about a year ago and the rooms are great. However the price has gone up to. In the same complex is the Sheraton Four Points that is nowhere near as good: avoid it.

Thanks starrsville. I wasn't familiar with tripadviosr. Based upon more recent reviews - including this past weekend, I have cancelled the Adams Mark & reserved the Drury Plaza for $7 more. I don't need any hassles travelling alone with two preteens.

I discovered tripadvisor.com from this board and absolutely love it. I chose hotels for my trip in France based on tripadvisor reviews and was very pleased with all choices.
Safe travels and have a great trip!
