Spa trip in limbo due to a BLIZZARD of all things--anyone here from Boulder, Colorado who can give me a weather forecast???
I really can't believe this--our 5th annual "Moms who desperately need a vacation so we're going on a spa/shopping weekend" is in danger of being cancelled because of a blizzard! On April 22!! This just isn't right even though I'm a native of western Nebraska and know this is par for the course in this part of the country. If anyone from Boulder is checking in here can you tell me what you're hearing for tomorrow? It doesn't sound great but I'm hoping that maybe the Weather Channel, etc. are exaggerating. We have to cancel our spa reservations by noon tomorrow so don't have a lot of time to decide one way or the other. We need rain in the worst way but SNOW??????? AGH!!

Well, I'm in Fort Collins (about 45 minutes away) and they are calling it most likely the biggest snow storm of the season (whcih realy isn't saying much, its only snowed like...twice). They are calling for 6-12 inches. Hope you can still keep your plans!

Ani,
Thanks for the Ft. Collins update--we'll be going through F.C. and will stay there if worse comes to worse. Hey, I like the Marriott!
Gekko,
I've looked at both wunderground.com and weather.com. Both say essentially the same thing but they differ on when the snow will start. If we didn't have to cancel hotels and the spa it wouldn't be a big deal--guess I'll just keep watching the weather--not much else we can do. Mother Nature's in charge!

The predictions - which are wrong as often as not - I've seen are for snow starting Thursday night and continuing through Friday - but no one's calling it a blizzard.
Some of the snow will melt when it hits the ground because it's been so warm. It snowed today in Boulder - where I work - for a bit, but it all melted.
I would check the Weather Channel again Thursday.

thyme,
thanks--I'd appreciate an update tomorrow. We can't leave until 4-5 p.m. since two of us have to work and one of us (me) needs to be a good mom and go to a function at my son's school. Hey, a day at Essentiels and another at Flatiron Crossing is worth a little cross-country trek

unless temps drop significantly you should be fine, as thyme said most of the snow will melt when it hits the roads. As of 9:30 am no snow or rain yet though it is dark outside. You can see web cams at www.9news.com hit on weather then live cams to see rd conditions around town

Right now, it's sort of sleeting - but no snow yet. It's not quite cold enough. As long as you're not planning any outdoor activities and don't mind driving while it's snowing, I would think you would be fine. Bring an umbrella or a rain coat with a hood - it's going to be really wet snow, not fluffy powder.

I am sitting in my office in Boulder right now looking out the window. It has been raining off and on all day, sometimes very hard. Right now it is coming down pretty good. It is expected to turn to snow late afternoon. I just checked the local forecast and they say the worst of it is going to be south of Denver. It sounds like maybe 4 to 8 inches here. I wouldn't panic. This time of year the roads will just be wet or a little bit slushy. Shouldn't be hard to get around. Weather for the weekend looks sunny and in the 50's.
