We spent two nights in Woodstock and two nights in Manchester--and toured around the surrounding areas--last week. It was a beautiful trip and the state lived up to the high expectations I'd built while living on the West Coast. We found that most of the information readily available focused on visiting in the fall or winter, so we had a little trouble figuring out where to go--but were really happy with our choices.
We posted a trip report on www.hitherandthither.net--all of our trip reports are linked in the column on the right.
Happy planning!

Having lived in both of the areas you visited,I feel that you captured them both well and really found many of the best they have to offer. I'd like to give you a few more dining options that we enjoy.
Next time you're in Manchester, have dinner at The Perfect Wife and Bistro Henry's, both located on 11/30 on the way up towards Bromley and Stratton Mountains.I also recommend The Inn at West View Farm for dinner in Dorset..
And do have a meal at Simon Perace's when you visit Quechee again.Beautiful settin gby the falls and delicious food.
Thank you! I'll definitely be sure to do so when we're back that way (and we surely will be).
P.S. Sorry about the em-dash after the link above. In case anyone has trouble, here's a new link: www.hitherandthither.net
Great photos! It was fun reading about how much you enjoyed swimming in the pond and the quarry. Loved the food descriptions.
Thanks so much!
