Sneaking into the Mirage Pool???

For anyone who has stayed at the Mirage - Question ? could we sneak into the Mirage Pool? How do you get into the pool area? Is it by room key? Do they check you in or do you scan your key? If we borrowed our friend's extra key and know their name, could we get in even if they are in the pool area?

We want to go to Vegas with some friends in mid-May. They will stay at the Mirage, but we can?t afford the $625 for 3 nights hotel. We can afford the Sahara etc, but we want to hang out with them at the Mirage pool during the day. Thanks.

If you don't want to pay the room price you shouln't be sneaking into the pool. Nothing worse than a freeloader. I don't buy your story that you have "friends" staying there and neither will the staff.

After this post is answered, maybe the experienced criminals can also give advice of how to rob a bank without getting caught, or how not to pay income tax.

Why don't you see if the Mirage will sell you day passes to their pool? If I had paid the price to stay there and other people were sneaking into the pool, I would be pretty mad, because in essence, I would be paying for their vacation as well as my own. Not fair.

I don't see why everyone is being so hostile about this. It's just the pool for crying out loud. It's not like they're trying to hide out in abandoned rooms or skip out on meal checks or anything. geez.

They check the room key. When I was there which was years ago they actually scanned your room key when you entered the pool area and then made sure the amount of people coming inn matched the room key. Oh wait, that was the MGM. Don't think the Mirage was quite as tight on "pool security" as the MGM. Why don't you have your friends hang out at the Sahara?

Just the pool? Let's see. The last time I was at a nice place with pool that didn't screen it was overcrowded and we had to deal with loud, obnoxious teenagers and a couple with a child who defecated in it. The pool had to be closed for 2 days!!! Both the teenagers and couple w/child were not guests. I for one WELCOME the screening.

They won't let you in and they won't be nice about it--they're very careful to check and I think that's okay. If I spend a lot of $$ to stay there I'd just as soon not have 8 million people and their cousin in the pool area with me. Sorry to sound cranky but that's the deal.

Why not have your friends ask if they can invite guests and if there is a guest pool usage fee?

Because all invited guests' children defecate in the pool? Not the best argument.

Anyway, I stayed at the luxor and it seemed that anyone could walk in off the street and sit at the pool. As long as they respect everyone's personal space, I for one, see no problem. But if everyone else does, oh well.

The Mirage does not offer guest passes to the pool. They DO scan keys -- each key is put into a machine and the room number, number of guests and guest names come up. Don't be tacky and try to sneak in -- I've seen people get caught trying, and it is really embarrassing. A couple tried to sneak in with someone's key, they got caught, were obviously embarrassed and tried to make it sound like the pool guy's fault -- they were eventually escorted away by security. People around the pool APPLAUDED. It was a great moment.
They damn well BETTER keep screening at that pool -- it's one of the best pool on the strip, and seats are LIMITED. I've been a guest there many times, and if you come to the pool late in the day you may not find a seat, so extra people sneaking in is a nightmare.
If I'm paying for a good room and a good pool, I expect that everyone else is a paying customer as well. I'm willing to pay the extra $$$ for a great pool.

I'll have to disagree with konido. Using the pool in this situation is stealing....stealing a service that others are paying for as part of their room charges.

We stay at the Mirage once a year, always waiting to get a special rate. The pool is quite crowded and I really resent anyone who would try to sneak in. Besides, they ALWAYS check your room key.

I agree. You get what "YOU" pay for, not what someone else pays for, and in this case it's the Mirage pool.

I thought we had this settled. Trailer park trash with pooping kids aren't allowed in the pool. What's the problem? \/

Why not have your "friends" meet you over at the Sahara pool? Bet they don't check room keys over there!
