Side Trip from Palm Desert California - No Kids!
We are going to spend a week with my folks in Palm Desert in December. So we decided to take adventage of babysitters and sneak away for either 2 or 3 days.
We are looking for a nice laid back spot to chill for a couple of days. Would like to stay within approx 2-1/2 hrs of Palm Desert.
We were thinking of going back to La Jolla since we fell in love with it last year, but are looking for other options as well.
We are not looking for heavy duty activities - good restaurants a must.
Thanks.
Donna

I love Laguna Beach - it has great coastal views, wonderful galleries, and is also relaxing. A little bit further away but also an option is Santa Barbara-- you have the coast and if you wanted, could do a day trip wine tasting.

Loved San Diego when we were there last week - but need more R & R this time around which is why we thought La Jolla.
Will look into Laguna Beach and Santa Barbara also.
Keep em coming....
Thanks.

Temecula - there are several wineries and spas to enjoy and it's only an hour's drive away
Cabin up in Lake Arrowhead in December may be nice if you're looking for something cozy and possibly snow-covered
Laguna Beach is a nice suggestion (plus plenty of dining options). Santa Barbara on the other hand would be a long drive, especially if there's traffic

Thanks for all the suggestions.
We have decided on Santa Barbara even though it is the farthest way.
My folks are going to meet us in LA with the kids and we will be flying home from there so that make the drive much more palatable.
We are looking at Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn r Santa Ynez Inn - any comments?
Thanks
