Shem Creek Inn
Has anyone stayed at the Shem Creek Inn in Mt. Pleasant? I'm interested in any comments. We are looking to stay only 2 nts. We like to go to run the bridge in the am, the beach during the day, then into CHS at night. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn and find it's a good location for our purposes. I would appreciate any comments on the CHS Harbor resort too.

It is fine although I haven't stayed there in some time.
If you are going downtown to party, I'd stay your first night in Shem Creek and your second night downtown.
Make sure you are out the door by 6AM to run the bridge because any later and it will be too hot. The Mt. Pleasant side of the bridge is the steepest.

GoTravel - I just finished reading your CHS weekend post. I love it.
Now for the rest of my story...We are actually going to CHS for 4 nights. We lived in CHS 15 years ago, but return every summer because we love it so much. We are returning this year for my husband's bday in early August. Another couple will be joining us.
I am planning 2 nights in CHS too. I am considering Mkt Pav or FQI. I like Mkt Pav for the pool, especially in early August. We haven't stayed there, but have been for cocktails.
I enjoyed your restaurant reviews too. Since it's a special birthday, I am considering Peninsula Grill. We've been to the bar in the past, and loved it, but haven't had dinner. I just don't want a stuffy evening. I want it to be elegant, modern and fun..with great food. Maybe champagne and apps at the bar...then cake!!
Other restaurants on our radar are FIG, Tristan, Mercato, SNOB. No decisions yet. So, I appreciate any ideas.
If you ever get out to the beach areas...we love Poe's @ Sullivan's Island. Excellent fish tacos and burgers.

Gotcha!
I don't think the Penninsula Grill is stuffy, really, but SNOB is much less so. Does that make sense?
FIG is really hit or miss so miss FIG.
Mercato and Hanks are owned by the same people who own PG. I haven't eaten at Mercato but Hanks is fantastic!
Definitely Market Pavillion over The French Quarter Inn for no other reason than that fabulous rooftop pool. I wanted to jump in so badly Saturday because it looked so refreshing!
As I'm sure you know, the locations are almost identical.
Have you run the bridge yet? The MP side makes the old one look flat.

For the birthday, I say Peninsula Grill, Peninsula Grill, Peninsula Grill! My husband and I have made a tradition of eating there on our anniversary every summer and were just there about a week ago. It was a great evening, with wonderful service and excellent food. I would not call it stuffy at all. My husband is not a "fancy" restaurant fan, but he loves the Peninsula Grill. Last week I had their boneless "Berkshire" pork chop and it was so good that I still drool just thinking about it...I never knew that meat could just melt in your mouth! Not to mention that you can finish the evening off with a slice of their wonderful coconut cake. SNOB is good, but if I had to choose between the two for a special night out, I think it's obvious which one would get my vote.
