Self parking hotel in Philly

I have an appointment at Hahnemann Hospital the end of September. I would like to find a hotel in Center City that has self parking. We stayed at the Hampton next to Reading Market one time. My husband liked the self parking but the beds were too hard. I have a muscle condition and require a softer mattress.
We stayed at the Crown Plaza downtown and the valet parking totally messed up my husband's car. They had turned knobs and pushed buttons that should not have been necessary to park it. Therefore he doesnt want valet parking any more.
We park the car and then walk to the hospital and around the city. We are not familiar with the city so if there are hotels outside Center City that would be a 10 min walk, I wouldnt mind that either.
I have been researching hotels all morning, with no luck, so thought to throw it out to the Fodor community in hopes one of you can help.
Thank you!

I like to self park my car in Philly but I always Parkiing Authority lots. They have a web site that lists all the lots, public and private and tells whether they are self parking.

I have stayed at the Alexander Hotel at 12th & Spruce. They have an arrangement with a parking garage just 2 blocks away where you park your own car. I had a pretty firm mattress but my travel companion said his was very soft so you may have to inquire.

It does look like the Alexander may be a bit more than a 10 minute walk.

I saw that the Hampton Inn has self-park but you've already eliminated that. The Sheraton has self-park but I can't comment on the mattresses. The Westin is known for it's mattresses and it has (expensive) self-park. It's not close to Hahnemann but it's walkable. I usually stay at the Palomar on 17th near Rittenhouse and self-park at the PPA garage on Walnut. The beds are very comfortable at the Palomar. Good luck in your search.

Birdie, I will check out the parking website. Thank you very much for that. I wasnt aware they had one.
If I found a hotel in the Rittenhouse area, would that be a walk less than 15 min? I see on the map that Philly is divided into sections but have no idea in regards to distance for walking.

Gardendiva, thank you for the suggestion of the Alexander, I will check that out.

A friend suggested airbnb website so I am going to search that site.

Thank you both very much for your input!

> If I found a hotel in the Rittenhouse area...

Center City Philadelphia is best viewed as either north or south of Market Street, along with the numbered streets.

Hahnnemann Hospital is at 15th & Race Street, thus two blocks (depending on how you count "blocks") north of Market.
Rittenhouse is at 19th & Walnut, thus two blocks south of Market. Thus, Rittenhouse to Hahnnemann would be about eight blocks -- doable in a brisk, fifteen-minute walk.

I'd look at hotels near Logan Square as well; although, as a resident of this area, I know almost nothing about which hotels have which features.

Thank you PaulRabe for the excellent explanation of how Center City is viewed. That helps me a great deal.

I found a good rental thru airbnb but unfortunately it was not available for our night. I will be returning to Philly in a few months so all of these suggestions are helping me acclimate to the area. I am confident I will find a reasonably priced place with self parking. Thanks to the Fodor family! I still have a 3 weeks before I have to commit to a hotel so will continue looking.

Google maps says it's a 15 min walk from the Palomar to Hahnemann. The Westin should be closer. The Logan Circle area is a good suggestion but neither The Logan Hotel nor the Embassy Suites has selfpark. I'm not familiar with any other hotels in that area but it's worth a look.
