Seafood near Astoria, Oregon
My family will be spending one day of our vacation (end of July) on the northern coast (Astoria, Warrenton and maybe Seaside). Please recommend your favorite place for seafood (has to have crab legs, as that is a must-have for my Dad). Outdoor seating near the water would be a huge plus, also.
Thanks in advance!

In Astoria, the Cannery Cafe is very nice. There are tables set up outside and you will have gorgeous views of the Columbia River here. I love the crab melts here with a glass of Abacela Viognier.
We also like the Ship Inn in Astoria, but no outdoor seating with views here. You do have very pretty views of the Columbia River from the dining room. The Ship Inn is more casual than the Cannery Cafe.
Another favorite of ours is the Silver Salmon Grille in downtown Astoria, no views or outdoor seating here, just great seafood. Very nice formal ambiance here with excellent service.
Have a great time on the Oregon Coast and let me know if you have further questions on this area. ***kim***

***kim*** has named the two best places in Astoria. If you're willing to drive to Cannon Beach, the Wayfarer is a reliable place to dine and they have outdoor seating with water views (but the water isn't lapping at your table).
Crab legs--I don't know. Check their web site.

Your Dad will want these, not Crab Legs.
Still in season till August.
We love Ship Inn, and the views are pretty neat, as the river is about 5 miles wide there+
I've worked quite a bit in Astoria over the last year, even though I live South in Nehalem.
1) Fish and Chips from the " land boat " near the Museurm, or Clementines. Both are awesome.
2) hit the rooftop of Hotel Elliott on a nice day ( Thurs looks best this week ) ............a closer view of the river and city than the Astor Column, and you can have a "drink" too !

Clementine's is the Bed and Breakfast in Astoria, Clemente's is the seafood restaurant there. We had a nice lunch at Clemente's last summer but the service was horrid the day we were there.
Agree, the rooftop at the Hotel Elliott is really nice. They are great about letting those who aren't even staying at the hotel go up to look. There are chairs up there and small fire pits, we like to watch the sunset there. My son is in the area with his wife and 4 friends and took them up there a couple of days ago, they loved it!
The fish and chip place by the museum is called the Bowpicker's. They sell fish and chips made with tuna. I didn't care for them but many rave about the fish and chips here.
If you go to Cannon Beach, there is MO's which is a very casual venue with gorgeous views of the ocean and Haystack Rock, they also have a back outdoor patio that is nice to dine when the weather is good. I love the Blackened Salmon here and the clam chowder is very good. Our last experience at Mo's was great with a very friendly server who loved his job there.
Salmon fishing is great in Astoria right now, my son and his friends went out yesterday and had a great time. ***kim***
