Santa Cruz restaurant recommendations

Hello -- I'm looking for restaurant recommendations in Santa Cruz, CA. We're unfamiliar with the city.

20 bucks/plate max, but can go up to 20-30 if really worth the extra money.

We're somewhat adventurous eaters, and interested in all cuisines -- no major restrictions. We will have a car and will be staying at the Hostel Santa Cruz in Beach Hill.

Thanks!

I should also note that we're interested in "street food" and "cheap eats" too. Just looking for any local favorites.

I haven't gone out to eat in Santa Cruz in awhile, so I don't have any current recommendations - although if you go to Capitola Village, stop in at Mr. Toots for some coffee It is a local institution.

I am curious where beach hill is though. I grew up there and never heard anything refered to as beach hill.

The hostel's site refers to it as "The historic district of Beach Hill." Totally unfamiliar with Santa Cruz, so I dunno. It's at Main Street and 2nd Street, near the beach.

Hi, I asked this same question earlier this year.

I had some helpful responses. See the bottom of this post for another link within Fodors specifically about restaurants.

Also, if you posted this under "California" you might get more responses.
