Just be prepared, it can get pretty cold at night in Telluride, even on that weekend! We have had it be 80 on Friday during afternoon shows and then it snowed during the last shows on Sunday!!
Have fun; it's a great venue and always grand weekend.

The elevation of Telluride is 8750'. Be prepared.
My suggestion would be to take the eastbound California Zephyr out of SLC at 3:30AM to Grand Junction Colorado and rent a vehicle there. Tne train usually pulls into Grand Junction between 10 and 10:30AM.
Depending on how many days you have, you might want to take a hike or 2 in Arches NP staying in Moab.

It's under 4 hours from Salt Lake City to Moab, so you could easily be in Arches and do a hike out to Delicate Arch or do some of Devil's Garden that first day.
If you have time, spend 2 or 3 days in Moab and explore more of Arches and some of Canyonlands Island in the Sky District.
If you have even more time, then head for Mesa Verde for a night or two before going to Telluride.

Some questions that will help answer your questions.
Do you live in SLC or are you flying in from a different part of the country? Moab is a great area with wonderful sights and hikes that I would agree with other posts, would be worth exploring en route to Telluride but if you are from SLC, this is probably an area that you have seen and hiked many times before.
What level of hiker are you? Are you looking for relatively level hikes of 2-4 miles or are you interested in hiking 14ers, weather permitting? If you are coming from low elevation, you might want to skip the 14ers.
Will you be driving a 4 wheel drive? If so, you might enjoy one of the many 4 wheel trails around Telluride.
All of the above considered, google bear creek trail, bridal veil falls, mt. Sneffels, the lizard head loop near lizard head pass and the park like river trail from one end of Telluride to the opposite end. During Blues and Brews, there may be access issues to a part of the river trail through town and to Bear Creeek trail
