Saint Michaels or Easton ?

Hi
We are planning a weekend trip to the eastern shore. We can't decide between staying in Easton at the Bishops House B&B or in St Michaels at the Inn at Five Gables. Easton is a few miles from St Michaels and I am wondering if we there is more to do in St Michaels. We would be arriving on a Sunday and staying until tuesday. Thanks.

There is certainly more to do in St. Michael's. However, it can be overun by tourists in the Summer. I'm sorry, i don't know either of the B and B's.

St. Michael's is a much more touristy town with things to see. Easton is a nice town to live in but really has nothing to see for tourists. Easton is as ugly as any town where Route 50 cuts into town.

it really depends on what you like to do. both towns have a good number of boutique shops, great restaurants and streets with historic homes to wander through. while easton is larger, the historic district (which seems world's away from the part on rt 50) is about comparable in size to st. michaels.

st. michaels has the harbor and easy access to the water for sitting, relaxing, eating and drinking alongside. also easy access to getting out on the water on a boat ride of some sort. easton has no water access.

easton has the art academy museum, a great live music theater and a nice historic society museum and walking tour. st. michaels has the maritime museum.

the towns are only 10 miles apart, so staying in one does not preclude you from visiting the other or oxford too which is 10 miles in a different direction from easton. oxford has a couple shops, decent restaurants and some nice waterfront parks.

there are a few fun bars in both towns with the easton ones being a bit more upscale. easton also has a wider selection of good restaurants but since you'll only be in town for a few days, that shouldn't really matter.

Thanks for your input. We decided to stay in St. Michaels and we are staying at the Five Gables Inn and Spa. I will post a report here when we return.

We stayed in St. Michaels at the Five Gables Inn and Spa this past Sunday to Tuesday. It was so hot! We wanted to go on a boat ride but it was just too hot. The inn was very nice but the room was small and the king bed was really two hotel twins together. DH and I could not figure out why his feet hung off the bed about 4 inches (he's 6'3") until we checked underneath and saw that it was not really a kingsize bed. The staff at the inn were very nice and helpful with restaurant recommendations. Highly recommend The Bistro restaurant. Food was fantastic. It is pricey but absolutely worth it. be sure and make a reservation though. We took the ferry over to Oxford (takes about 5 minutes and costs $12 round trip). nothing much in Oxford to see. We also drove over to Easton, walked around and had lunch at Legal Spirits, very good. Lots of shops in Easton are closed on Mondays. Shops in all of these towns open late and close early. It was very relaxing to get away. We did not use any of the spa services at the inn. The whirlpool bath in our room was nice and the aveda products were a treat.
