Resorts in Longboat Key

Planning to visit Longboat Key in Feb and I am not sure where to stay. 4 adults, would like beach area and hopefully activities at the resort or close by.

Any one have any suggestions?

It's been a long time since we've visited, but you might want to take a look at The Colony.

The Colony is very "tired". Not impressive at all. Very big only if you are tennis players. Longboat Key Club is much, much nicer.

Thanks for the suggestions, Longboat Key Club, looks beautiful but priced 2 bedroom and it came out at over 9000 for the week.

Has anyone heard of the Veranda Beach Club?

We have a family member with a timeshare at Veranda so we have stayed there often.

There is a pool and a lovely courtyard. It is right on the beach and there are some beach things for rental - boats, waterbikes, etc. It is right near a shopping plaza that has a Publix in it so it is handy to stock up on items.

I had a timeshare at Veranda Beach before we bought our home on Longboat Key. It is a very nice, large condo and should have most everything you'd want. The two bedroom units have a bedroom on each side giving each couple a lot of privacy. I believe there's a jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom.

There's much to do in the area biking is very popular as are the golf courses at the Key Club. You can rent boats further up the island at Cannons Marina and there's tennis courts right on the Veranda Beach property.

Restaurants are very good on the island with Euphemia Haye, Harry's, Cafe on the Bay on the top of the list.

What type of activities would you like info on?

Oh - the beach - absolutely white talcum powder - it's wonderful!!

The Veranda Beach Club sounds like a nice place to stay. We will have our daughter who is 21 and her boyfriend that is 22. My husband is into golf and of course my daughter and I love to shop. Her boyfriend loves any outdoor activity, biking, boating and a great beach.

Any good shopping nearby? Is Busch Gardens far form Longboat Key, how about Disney?

Good shopping nearby???

If you and daughter turn right onto Gulf of Mexico Drive and follow it down past Mote Aquarium you will then come to St Armands Circle - a really great shopping area!!

Marie Selby Gardens are in Sarasota and there's also good theater and entertainment at the Asolo and at the Van Wezel.

It's an hour up to Tampa's Busch Gardens and almost 2 hours up to Disney.

Thanks LN, can you recomend any other resort/condo in Longboat that would have 2 or 3 bedroom facilities?

Certainly.

There's the Diplomat, Seahorse, Turtle Crawl Inn, White Sands and the Longboat Bay Club.

The Diplomat and Turtle Crawl are on the gulffront whereas the White Sands has both gulffront and bayside units. the Longboat Bay Club has only bayside units but they are possibly the largest and nicest of the five.
