Rehoboth Beach, DE early November, any ideas on what there is to do?

Long story short, my step-father is taking the family to Rehoboth Beach, DE the first weekend in November for my mom's birthday. During the summer, I know what to do during the day but what about in fall? Any ideas or suggestions? I will have a car. Thank you in advance.

Do you know if most shops, restaurants, etc. are open?

Most, but not all, of the restaurants and shops will be open. There is a fairly large number of people who own second houses and go up year round on weekends in addition to the full-time residents. Lewes is a nice little town for a day trip. If you like outlet shopping there is a series of malls outside Rehoboth. Enjoy your weekend!

Grotto's Pizza and Nicolo's will be open so that's a start.

If it's too windy to walk the beach, don't forget about the trails at Cape Henlopen State Park. On the Lewes side of the Park you can climb up one of the cement tower used to look for U-boats during WWII. At North Shores on the Rehoboth side, there's a great trail around Gordon's Pond - the birding is great and the marsh is loooking lovely - last weekend the "heather was blazing".
