Recommendations for a special dinner in Asheville?

We will be in Asheville on business on our anniversary - we would love to have a special dinner while there to celebrate. We don't necessarily need the fanciest service we really enjoy wonderful food in a great atmosphere. Please help with ideas we have not visited N. Carolina before. Thanks

The Richmond Hill Inn would be THE place. Biltmore House has a new inn on its property and it may have an outstanding restaurant also.

Hi Jim,
I hear the Grove Park Inn is nice, might want to check them out.

I recommend that you try Cafe on the Square, in the heart of downtown on Pack Square. Good food, good atmosphere, and a great place to peoplewatch -- very memorable overall, and just one of those places that makes you feel good.

Price ranges and types of food you enjoy would be helpful.

Without that ;-), I'll second the Grove Park Inn and add Trevi Pasta Seafood & Pizza in Biltmore Village.

One of my favorite websites for this is from a local newspaper called the Mountain Express. Their website is at:

Try the Grove Park, especially if it is still nice enough that you can dine outside. The view & food are outstanding.

Thanks for all of your helpful replies.
Mike, I almost hate to admit it but concerning "types of food" we like everything!!! Price range is open ended. Looking forward to this trip.

For a special dinner in Asheville, no limit, all foods included:

I'll stick with my original suggestions of Grove Park Inn and Trevi but will also add:

Gabrielle's - Richmond Hill Inn -
late 1800's inn.
Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria - mostly
atmosphere.
Fine Friends - Merrimon Ave.

Fine Friends on Merrimon has closed. I'd like to add La Caterina to this list. It's a wonderful Italian restaurant near Pack Square and I've never had a disappointing meal there. It's one of Asheville's best restaurants, in my opinion.
