radisson marco island

Does anyone have any comments about this hotel? I recently cancelled Key West plans, since we decided on a beach vacation and this is about what was available on short notice and affordable. Trip advisor is mixed. We have only a room, not a suite, and am wondering if it is really run down. On their website the photos don't look too bad. Also, any good spots for casual dining? Are we better off driving to Naples? A few years ago, we stayed at Vanderbilt Inn and though the beach was beautiful, the hotel was so-so.Thought we would try Marco.

I have not stayed in the hotel but did a walk through to see if we would be interested in staying there on another visit. The rooms are older but appeared clean and ok overall. Some of the rooms that they showed us had nice views. We have gone to Marco a couple of times since then and have rented condos rather than stay at any of the hotels. We stayed at the Hilton next to the Radisson a few times and the Marco Beach Ocean Resort once before we started with the condos. The Hilton was nicer than the Radisson.
As far as casual dining. Verdi's is fairly casual and just up the street. The Sand Bar is a sports bar with good food. Also directly across the street from the Radisson is the Fat Pelican/O'Clarks which has very good food as well.

We stayed there a number of yrs. ago and unless it has gone down the tubes it should be OK. We had a 1 BR suite and it was fine. Nice beach too.

Thanks for replies, I guess we will give it a shot. Detraveler, I appreciate the suggestions for restaurants.

linman, we stayed at the Radisson 10 years ago, so I can't say whether the rooms are run down now (we have a timeshare at the Charter Club right next door). But as for restaurants, one of our favorites is Bimini's directly across the street from the Radisson. Their lobster bisque is soooo good! They don't take reservations, so don't go if you're in a hurry, although we've never waited too long. Other really good restaurants, although more expensive, are the Cafe de Marco, La Bouillabaisse and Marco Polo, as well as Pazzo's in Naples. Enjoy!
