R & R in Palm Springs-but where??

I am looking to have a low key 30th b-day long weekend in April with my husband (I should mention I will be 7 months pregnant)but I am having problems with hotels. While I know the JW Marriott and Westin are some of the highly recommended ones I am not that in to huge chain hotels (fighting for lounge chairs, lots of screaming kids at the pool etc) so I am looking for a smaller hotel with all the ameneties (pool, spa, restaurant) in about the $200-$250 per night range. Read about the Viceroy on Frommers but no rating here. Any thoughts. Thanks for all your help.

That would be a good choice, although I do think the black-white-yellow decor is a bit over the top.

Its outside of your budget but for a special fling at least look at The Willows. When we stayed there a few years ago it was worth the splurge.

Thanks for the input. How outside my budget? I cant find a website for The Willows. The hotels in Palm Springs seem to get such mixed reviews on both Fodors and especially Trip Advisor. One of the most highly recommeded hotels (La Quinta) has gotten horrible reviews from both websites. I am baffled! Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I have almost the right place for you, but no spa.

Just one block off the Palm Canyon, so in the very center of everything, quiet, large rooms and bathrooms, kitchenette, a pool of course, buffet breakfast. One short block to the restaurants.

I'm talking about the Chase Hotel. Click on my name for a longer report. Search this forum for more posts on this place. Check the hotel's website.

No restaurant on site but fabulous breakfasts and wine and hor d'oerves in the evening. Also no spa but a very private quiet pool.

Hi
We stay at the Desert Hills in Palm Springs. It doesn't have a restaurant but there are lots of great places near by. We've been staying there for years and couldn't imagine staying anyplace else.

We love the La Quinta Resort, and are staying there for a third time over New Years. There are many swimming pools among the Casitas.

One place you might consider is the Villa Royale. Great onsite poolside bar and restaurant, Europa.

Congratulations on your pending new addition.
