Quilting in Oahu
I am travelling to Oahu from Australia in mid August.
As a quilter, I am keen to find supplies that are available for this activity in America eg fabric, books and equipment..
Any help on where I should shop and what should I seek out, would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

I've had great luck ordering on line from www.quiltshawaii.com and also Fiddlesticks (808-533-4565) for cross stitch patterns. You may want to contact both to see what options are for quilting supplies.

There is a quilting store that has been around a long time and they seem to have recently put up a website: www.thecalicocathawaii.com
Also, there is this place www.kwiltsnkoa.com. Not sure if it's just a website or there is a physical location.
I've seen quilting supplies at regular craft stores, but since I don't quilt, not sure how good the selection is.

My friend, who is an avid quilter from California, likes the Calico Cat. She's even taught a class or two there and was very impressed with the shop.
Another great fabric shop with lots of quilting fabric is Kaimuki Dry goods.
Both are fairly close to Waikiki.

Thank you for your help. Have looked at the websites and made notes. Love the graphics for "Quilts Hawaii" but sadly they seem to have an online shop only. Will visit the others . Particularly looking forward to "Calico Cat" and "Kaimuka Dry Goods". Prices so much cheaper than Australia. Yippee.....Many thanks.

You can get ready cut squares of Hawaiian print at Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, WalMart, a couple shops in Chinatown.
There is a quilting shop fairly close to International Marketplace. Same side of the road Diamond Head Direction.
It is either just a few stores from International Market Place or on the next block. I don't remember which.
Also Fabric Mart. Three locations on Oahu.
Nearest one to Waikiki is 1631 Kalakaua Ave. It is across the Kalakaua Ave from Waikiki & a couple more blocks. Fairly close to the WalMart.

Thank you for your help...loved Oahu and it's residents..particularly enjoyed the fabric shops..came home laden with books and fabric..both much more resonably priced than here in Australia. Many thanks for your local knowledge: really appreciated.
