I will be on my own for the day in Seward and want to plan a super fun day for myself.
I want to do the Iditarod tour (seavey family). They have a 1 1/2 hour tour and a day long tour. Has anyone been on either one? I will have been in Seward a day or so and will have visited the Exit Glacier, so that part of the day long tour would be a repeat. On the all day tour, they take the tour group to the Resurrection Roadhouse for lunch. Has anyone eaten lunch there? The short tour is $49 an the day long tour is $129.
I also looked at the Godwin Helicopter glacier/dog mushing tour. It runs around $300 up? Any feedback on it?
Other suggestions for the day? We will have already taken the 9 hour northwestern glacier tour the day before. It will be my last official day in Seward so I don't want to miss anything. I had even thought about a laid back day doing the short tour, lunch and then just finishing up shopping and photography --I would love any "don't miss" suggestions on the shopping or photography also. Thank you for your help. I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!!!!

If of interest, the glacier dog sledding is the top choice. No comparism to the Seavey's cart ride. What else does the "long" tour include besides the lunch??? But I would suggest if you don't take the helicopter, the Seavey's sled dog adventure is probably the most well run cart ride and sled dog encounter, so the regular tour would be my suggestion. There is also a nice Seward history museum, that I found interesting and the Sea Life center is excellent. Certainly plenty to choose from.

Thanks Budgetqueen. The day long tour consists of tour of Seward, trip to Exit Glacier, lunch at Roadhouse and then the regular tour (dogsled ride, tour of facilities). I am curious about why you feel the way you do about the helicopter. Thanks for your help.

Why about the helicopter??? Glacier dog sledding is almost real. And GROSSLY superior to being pulled by a cart. I have dog sledded on my two Alaska winter trips, just excellent, but a few years ago I did go to Seavey's with my son, also a good encounter with a well run company.

We did Seaveys tour a couple of years ago and it was nice, just the kennel tour, puppy holding, and sled ride, but then it was like $29 I think. My wife still talks about the puppies. Go with the short tour since you are doing other things on your own. Unless you are going to spring for the snowey dog run.
