Quality Inn San Diego on Mira Mesa Blvd...good or bad?
#2
I have never stayed here because I live not too far from it. It's not a bad area, but it is not a "touristy" area.
The hotel is just off Interstate 15, which might be very convenient for you. It's about 15 minutes to downtown San Diego. It's close to Lake Miramar, which is a reservoir so you can't swim in it, but there's a path all the way round (about 5 miles) for walking, running, bicycling.
It's close to the Marine Corps base at Miramar.
There are several chain restaurants close by including On the Border, Pat and Oscar's, Islands, Bucca di Beppo, Mimi's. There's a Chili's at eh next freeway exit going north, and a fish restaurant there too-Nugent's.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more detailed questions.

This is similiar to a hotel for a small business convention/meeting. It is not the "San Diego" experience, if that is what you are asking. It just in a strip mall off the 15 freeway, kind of near big box stores and small businesses. Not a "vacation" type hotel. I hope that helps. The hotel is basic and clean.

Thanks, Barbara and tinabina.
I realize it won't be the "san diego experience" but it's close to a sporting event we'll be at so I basically just wanted to know that it was a clean hotel in a safe area.
Thanks for your help!

Isn't the T&F in Vista?
It's a good 30 minute drive to Vista HS from this hotel.
Good luck to your son! What events does he do? My son, now at college, participates in amateur T&F and runs the 400 hurdles, the open 400 and 1600 relays.

Yes, I realize the hotel is 30 minutes from Vista but we aren't going to the hotel until we're done with the event. We wanted our hotel to be on the way to the downtown area (but not IN the downtown area as the hotel prices are way higher)....so that's how we ended up there. It should work.
My son is a distance runner...1500, 3200.
