Overnight between Moab and Grand Canyon village
Hello - suggestions please for an overnight stop between Moab and the Grand Canyon village ? Any and all ideas are welcome - we are traveling very soon May 31- June 3....thank you !! My husband and I only are doing this trip -.we love nature and are curious to see wild horses -thank you !!!!

I'm not sure what you're aiming at. The trip from Moab to Grand Canyon Village takes less than six hours -- a reasonably easy drive without an overnight stay. Are you leaving Moab late in the day?
Are you looking for things to do along the way? If so, one possibility is to spend the night at Monument Valley. Plan to take a tour once you arrive, or early the next day. Sunrise and sunset are justifiably famous. I saw a small herd of horses during the tour. I'm not sure how wild they were, but they were free to roam. WARNING: It may be impossible to get a hotel reservation at this late date.

Stop at Blanding and tour Edge of Cedars Museum focusing on ancient Indians of that area. They have a restored ruin. Massive display of ancient pottery
Monument Valley self-driving tour. 14 miles as I recall.

In the morning drive east and visit ancient Hopi Indian pueblo of Oraibi. Walpi tour would be better, but further east.
Then back to SRGC. Can have lunch at Cameron, if hungry
BUY your gas at the intersection of 89 and 64, as I recall. MUCH cheaper than at SRGC

Cameron has a large historic restaurant. Service is good and food is adequate.
Inside are wooden cabinets. One set of wooden cabinets was a a pioneer doctors medicine cabinet. The metal ceiling is hand crafted
The souvenirs shop sell authentic jewelry and rugs
Also sell fake
To the east is a special authentic Navajo and Hopi craft store worth visiting - don't remember its name.
NRGC is too high for Antelope but there are two buffalo herds. One in the park and another outside - east of park.

But you are going to SRGC so it is a don't care.

Thank you all again. In the end, I called The View in Monument Valley. The person was truly helpful and suggested Blanding also because of the weather in June and also the prices. We will have driven from Denver to Moab the night before, so simply hanging out in a cooler place within an hour and a half from Moab sounds like a good idea and as you said it is on the way to the Grand Canyon village. Again many thanks...

I understand not wanting to drive too far, but Bluff is a bit beyond Blanding and also has lodging choices.
You won't add too much to the trip to GC village if you drive past Monument Valley. A quick stop at the VC will give you the most iconic views even if you don't take the time for one of the tours.
